Suitable for using on a variety of different stains both exterior and interior, the Zinsser Cover Stain is suitable for surfaces that have been damaged by fire, smoke, nicotine or water.
Suitable surfaces including walls, ceilings, trim, doors foundations, railings, fascia, exterior siding and many more, Zinsser Cover Stain is extremely easy to apply, touch dry within 35 minutes and ready to be recoated after 2 hours.
This professional primer is solvent-based but can be overcoated with both solvent and water based paints. Designed to also resists cracking and peeling, this colour match paint is compatible with all decorative top coats.
Available in a range of sizes to suit your decorating project, this quality Zinsser Cover Stain primer is also available in white. To select your size of choice simply use the dropdown menu provided above.

Surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free of dust, dirt, excessive chalky material, grime, grease, oil, wax, mildew, wallpaper, adhesive or any contamination that may interfere with adhesion.
Shake or stir before using. In most cases only one coat is necessary to prime most surfaces. If excessive absorption occurs over very porous substrates a second coat may be necessary. Spot priming is recommended only under high hiding topcoat paints.
For best results prime entire surface before painting. Allow to come to room temperature before use. Use in a well ventilated area avoiding high humidity. Shake can vigorously until ball inside can rattles. Turn can upside down and continue shaking for one minute, shake occasionally during use. Spray 10”-12” from object with short dusting strokes. Over-coatable after 30 minutes.
To clean spray for future use, turn can upside down and spray until clear gas is emitted.
Apply with a natural or synthetic bristle brush, roller, pad or sprayer. Follow manufacturer’s instructions when using spray equipment. Airless spraying- use a 0.15” to .017” tip at 1800 to 2200 P.S.I.
Apply when air and surface temperatures are between 5°C and 32°C and humidity is less than 85%.
Note that temperature and humidity directly affect dry time of the product. Higher temperatures and lower humidity will accelerate the dry time while lower temperatures and higher humidity will slow down the dry time.
