From humble beginnings back in 1953, Laura Ashley has grown to become a true British institution! Founded by husband and wife Laura and Bernard Ashley, this well loved home and lifestyle brand began hand-printing fabric at their kitchen table after being inspired by a Women's Institute exhibition. After investing the large sum of £10 to purchase some wood for a screen, fabric and dyes, together the couple started to produce headscarves that were soon being snapped up by stores all over the country.

With homeware expansion arriving a little bit later in the 1970s, Bernard and Laura seen the need to expand there range and had the bright idea of taking their recognisable prints and turning them into wallpapers. With their range of wallpaper designs proving extremely popular by the end of the 70s, they decided to also expand into furnishings and fabrics being produced with a corresponding Laura Ashley wallpapers to match.
