Do I need to use a primer before applying Cuprinol Garden Shades?

Before application of Cuprinol Garden Shades there is no need for a primer. In dry conditions apply your first coat of Cuprinol brushing along the grain. Cuprinol is touch dry in just 1 hour.

Why type of wooden surface is best for using Cuprinol Ducksback on?

Cuprinol Ducksback is ideal for applying on rough, sawn wood. Relying on timber texture for adhesion, if the wooden surface contains smooth timber components, or has lost texture through weathering then adhesion performance will be reduced. For smooth wooden surfaces, Garden Shades is the perfect substitute. 

Can you apply Cuprinol with a roller?

For optimum results when applying Cuprinol to your wooden surface, paint tricky areas around joints and frames using a high quality paint brush and larger areas with a roller. 

Is it better to use stain or paint on a fence?

The choice is completely up to you and what you are trying to achieve. If you are looking for a more dramatic and statement change then go for one of the Cuprinol Garden Shades. If you prefer less maintenance, and a more natural looking fence, stain is a great choice.
