Our Top Tips on Preping and Applying Floor Paint To Your Surfaces

Before starting to paint floor surfaces, it is vital that you read the preparation instructions available on the package or on manufacturer website:

When preparing your surfaces:

  • Ensure they are clean, dry and free from anything that may cause adhesion problems. 
  • Any old or flaking paint must be removed until you have a firm surface.
  • Fill any nail holes and imperfections with a suitable multi-purpose filler and spot prime the area.

When applying floor paint to your surfaces:

  • Stir paint tin thoroughly before use and apply product with a synthetic brush or short nap mohair roller.
  • For best results, start in the corner of the room furthest from the door
  • On previously painted surfaces apply 1-2 coats as required and ensure that you leave adequate drying times in between coats. 
  • Allow to fully dry for 24 hours before allowing light foot traffic
