Sandtex Trade Eggshell X-Tra - Tinted Colours
Specially formulated to provide your exterior wooden and metal surfaces with long lasting protection, the Sandtex Trade Eggshell X-Tra delivers up to 10 years proven durability.
Made from a solvent based composition, this smooth finishing Sandtex paint can be mixed into thousands of different colours delivering incredible coverage and high opacity. Featuring added inhibitors to reduce the risk of UV damage appearing over time, this Sandtex exterior paint also provides your surfaces with a high resistance of flaking and peeling over time. Suitable for using on a range of substrates including doors, windows, exterior wood, metal and PVCu, this high performance eggshell paint is touch dry within 4-6 hours, recoatable after 16 hours and delivers coverage up to 15m2/litre.
Easy to apply, Sandtex Trade Eggshell X-Tra can be simply applied with a high quality paint brush or roller and is available in a 1L & 2.5L size tin to accommodate the project you are undertaking.

Do I need to apply a primer before applying Sandtex Trade Eggshell X-Tra - Tinted Colours?
To achieve excellent adhesion and a long lasting durable base for your eggshell paint, we recommend using the Sandtex Trade Flexible Primer Undercoat as your primer of choice. Available in a range of sizes, simply apply with a synthetic or bristle brush or short/medium pile roller.
How many coats of Sandtex Trade Eggshell X-Tra - Tinted Colours should you apply?
In most cases two coats of Sandtex exterior paint wood paint will be enough, however if a strong colour change is required, your surface of choice may require additional coats.

New Wooden Surfaces - All surfaces must be suitably dry, and free from anything that will interfere with the adhesion of the materials to be applied, with a moisture content not exceeding 18%. Rub down with a suitable grade of abrasive paper and round sharp edges 1-3mm. Remove all dust. Timber with oils/extractives must be swabbed with clean methylated spirits, frequently changing the face of the cloths. Treat knots with two thin coats of fresh knotting. Fill any fixing holes, open joints and shallow surface defects with Sandtex Ready Mixed Filler. Rub down with a suitable grade of abrasive paper. Remove all dust. Prime with one coat of Sandtex Trade Flexible Primer Undercoat.
New Metals - Surfaces must be clean and free from anything that will interfere with the materials to be applied. Wash with hot water and liquid detergent solution to remove oil, grease or any other contaminants, frequently changing the water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Allow to dry. Prime with one coat of Sandtex Trade Rust Inhibiting Primer Undercoat.
Galvanised Metal - Bright galvanised surfaces should be thoroughly degreased as per new metals, then pre-treated with a T Wash. Overall blackening of the surface will confirm satisfactory surface degreasing. When dry prime with one coat of Sandtex Trade Rust Inhibiting Primer Undercoat.
Stir well before and during use. Apply using good quality tools - synthetic or bristle brush short/medium pile roller. Maintain a wet edge. On timber lay off in the direction of the grain.
Avoid excessive de-nibbing in-between coats. Ensure the previous coat is fully dry before further application.
