Sandtex Trade Flexible Primer Undercoat is a solvent based exterior primer with excellent adhesion which goes a long way. It is solvent based and creates a durable base for long lasting eggshell and gloss finishes on exterior wood.
Ideal as an undercoat before top coating with Sandtex Trade Eggshell X-Tra or Flexigloss X-Tra.
It is available in White & Charcoal Grey in multiple sizes and can be applied by either brush or roller.

Do I Need to Use an Undercoat With Sandtex Exterior Paint?
It is always recommended that you use Sandtex Trade Primer Undercoat when painting bare wood and metal when finishing with Sandtex Trade Eggshell X-Tra or Flexigloss X-Tra. The Sandtex Trade exterior paint system offer 10 years of durability.

Prior to full application, all surfaces should be clean, dry and free from anything that will interfere with the adhesion of the materials to be applied. If applying to new wooden surfaces, rub down with a suitable grade of abrasive paper and around sharp edges, once completed remove all dust.
Treat knots with two thin coats of fresh knotting and fill any holes, open joints and surface defects with a suitable ready mix filler. Once completed and if required prime with one coat of Sandtex Trade Flexible Primer.
If applying over previously decorated surfaces, remove all loose, failing or suspect paint. Organic growth must be treated with Sandtex Fungicidal Wash and removed. Treat knots with two thin coats of fresh knotting and fill any fixing holes, open joints and surface defects with a suitable ready mix filler. Rub down with a suitable grade of abrasive paper, and finally spot prime all bare areas with one coat of Sandtex Trade Flexible Primer Undercoat. Wash remaining sound paint with hot water and liquid.
Stir well before and during use. For optimum results, apply with a synthetic or bristle brush or short/medium pile roller. Maintain a wet edge and on timber lay off in the direction of the grain. Avoid excessive de-nibbing in-between coats. Ensure the previous coat is fully dry before further application.
If maintenance is required, surfaces may be washed with a warm water and liquid detergent solution to remove surface dirt prior to application.
