Barrettine White Knotting is a 'clear' knotting made from White Shellac which reduces the discolouration of topcoats when sealing knots under wood stains, varnishes and light coloured paints. It can be used under solvent and water based paints but we'd always recommend you test this on a small area first.
Nourish and protect your wood with Barrettine White Knotting which is to be used on knots and resinous areas prior to painting.

Ensure all surfaces are sound, clean dry and free from any contaminants.
Sand down thoroughly ready for priming and ensure all dust is removed.
Wipe knots with Methylated Spirit prior to applying knotting.
Apply one coat of knotting over and around all knots and resinous areas working well in, ensuring all knots are properly sealed. After a minimum of 30 minutes a second coat must be applied if subsequently finishing with a water based coating and recommended for solvent based coatings. O
ver coating possible after 1-2 hours. If knots are exuding excessive resin it is recommended to remove them and make good with wood filler.
Clean brushes with Barrettine Methylated Spirits or Cellulose Thinners.
*Caution: We recommend doing a test area first to ensure compatibility with top coats/paint systems to be used.
