Ronseal Crystal Clear Outdoor Varnish is a clear varnish for outdoor use on woodwork. The Crystal Clear finish allows for protection against your windows and doors without changing the colour of the woodwork.
Ideal for use on exterior doors and windows it is resistant to peeling and flaking fir a long lasting finish.
The finish will not yellow over time, is rainproof within one hour and requires minimal prep. The varnish is available in a satin and matt finish. Ronseal's crystal clear outdoor matt varnish will cover roughly 16m² per litre and the varnish will be rainproof in just 60 minutes.
Available in matt or satin finishes in 250ml, 750ml or 2.5L tins.

Before you start
Always make a desk when sanding to prevent the inhalation of dust.

- To ensure your Ronseal Crystal Clear Varnish sticks, you will need to sand down your window or door. Use 120-grit sandpaper to remove any stains, existing varnish or surface imperfections.
- Once you have finished sanding, use a damp cloth and some white spirit to clean the surface and wipe down any existing dust
You are now ready to apply your Ronseal Crystal Clear Outdoor Varnish.
- Stir your Ronseal Crystal Clear Outdoor Varnish to ensure there are no lumps and the consistency of the varnish is even.
- There is no real need to test Ronseal Crystal Clear Outdoor Varnish as it is clear but that's not to say you can't test it on a small patch of the woodwork.
- Use a brush to apply the varnish in the direction of the wood grain. The varnish is rainproof in one hour but, it will take six hours to dry.
- We would suggest three coats to achieve the best finish. Before applying the final coat, lightly sand the surface in order to achieve a smooth finish.
Cleaning
Once your Ronseal Crystal Clear Outdoor Varnish has dried you will be able to clean the door as normal. The Varnish can be cleaned off your brushes using warm soapy water.
Repair
If patches of your Ronseal Crystal Clear Outdoor Varnish become damaged, simply sand down the damaged section of Varnish and apply three new coats.
