Colour Match FAQ's

How does colour matching work?

We've got an amazing range of paint finishes that can be tinted to match over 19,000 big brand shades. Just find your perfect shade and type in the brand name and colour name when you place your order.

Our formulas are created in lab conditions and matched to the colour charts, ensuring consistent results every time. The tinted equivalent colours will be within a 10% variance of the colour chart.

If you're unsure whether we can match a specific colour, just send an email to sales@decoratingcentreonline.co.uk and we'll be happy to assist you.

Which colours can you match?

We can tint our paint in various finishes to equivalents of over 19,000 Big Brand shades - so you have plenty to choose from! These include RAL, NCS, COAT, Lick and British Standard.

Sadly there are some brands we are unable to match which include but are not limited to - Pantone, HEX or RGB colours, Cuprinol or Behr.

If you'd like to know which big brand colours are available for colour matching or need help finding an alternative to a shade we can't match, please don't hesitate to contact us. Our team is available to assist with any colour requests, just send an email to sales@decoratingcentreonline.co.uk.

Do you offer tester pots?

We do have a 350ml Vinyl Matt tester pot available in over 19,000 colours including most major brands, tester pots are a great way to test out the colours you like best to make sure you get the perfect shade!

Simply enter the name and brand of the colour you would like to be mixed, or select a colour from our extensive colour palette range and our tinting experts will get your colour mixed!

Our Leyland paint tester pots of paint are the perfect way of checking the colour is exactly what you want before you begin painting. We colour match most brands so there is a wide variety of colours to choose from. If you are unsure, give our customer service team a call or email and they will be on hand to help you.

Key Benefits:

-Massive 350ml, much larger than most other tester pots available on the market

-Available in 16,000+ colours including major brands

-Rapid delivery, typically available for next day delivery

There can be slight variances when changing a brand or finish but this will remain within 10% of the branded chart

Please note our tester pots are only available in the Vinyl Matt finish for colour matching. You can use these to test your shade before committing to a larger tin in your preferred finish. There can be slight variances when changing a brand or finish but this will remain within 10% of the branded chart.

Can I return colour match paint?

In these instances please contact our customer services team at sales@decoratingcentreonline.co.uk

If you’re unsure about a paint colour we do offer 350ml tester pots of Leyland Vinyl Matt to allow you to try out your shade before committing to a full size.

"Light Shades Only" - what does this mean?

If you've spotted a colour-matched product with a "light shades only" disclaimer, it means that we can only mix lighter shades into this paint finish.

Light shades typically include white, off-white, pale, or pastel colours. If you'd like to check if your shade can be used with a 'light' base, just drop us an email at sales@decoratingcentreonline.co.uk

How do I know which colour I've received?

Due to copyright restrictions we use alphanumeric codes instead of shade names on our designer colour-match labels. On your label, you'll find a 3 or 9-digit alpha code, followed by 3 numeric digits which should match the number code of the designer colour shade. If you're not sure which number corresponds to your colour match, you can Google the designer brand and colour name to find the number. If you're still not sure just drop us a message and we'll be happy to help you work it out.

If you have ordered a Voice of Colour shade with a PPG code (e.g.. PPG1000-1) the code will be displayed on the label as well as a colour name. The name can vary from UK to US version of the chart but the code will remain the same. We use the codes when mixing to ensure we mix the correct colour.

If you have ordered from the palette picker on our website, these are often standard colours like RAL or British Standard. Both are coded colour systems, so the most important reference is the number. The British Standard number will be something like this: '00 A 01', and NCS will look like this: 'S 5005-R90b'. These references will be located on your confirmation email and on the tin label.
