Preparation

Before application, ensure that all wood treated with Osmo UV Protection oil is clean, dry and frost- free. For optimum results ensure that all traces of previous finishes such as paints and varnishes are removed to expose clean, bare wood.
It is also important that any holes, gaps or imperfections are filled with a suitable wood filler. Osmo recommends that fresh wood containing extractives and especially hardwoods need to weather for approximately 6 weeks after installation before oiling.

Application

It is advised that prior to full application, that you test a small section of your chosen surface before treating to be sure of the overall effect and drying time.
To begin, stir the oil thoroughly and apply Osmo Protection oil thinly along the wood grain with ideally a soft top brush. Work the oil into the wooden grain surface and wipe off any excess oil with a clean, lint free cloth and allow it to fully dry.
Once the surface has fully dried, apply a second coat if required.

Care

Depending on the overall level of weathering, apply 1 to 2 coats of Osmo UV Protection Oil approximately every 2 to 3 years on cleaned and intact wooden surfaces.
