When painting exterior surfaces such as exterior garden furniture, we would always recommend using a high quality exterior wood paint that has been specially produced to suitably coat this surface type.

Before applying garden furniture paint, preparation is key! Before you get the paint brush out, ensure that your surfaces are clean, dry and free from any loose debris. It is also important to ensure that any holes, gaps or splits in the surface of the wood is filled in beforehand. 

If your surface has already been previously coated with a paint or varnish, it must be stripped back to it original wood before application can begin.
