I've always believed that one of the easiest ways to change how a room feels is by changing what's on the walls.
Paint is brilliant for setting the mood, but wallpaper can tell a story. Whether it's delicate flowers, climbing foliage or peaceful countryside scenes, nature-inspired wallpaper has a lovely way of making a home feel softer, calmer and more welcoming.
You might have heard this style referred to as biophilic design. I've actually done a full blog explaining what that is and how to bring the look into your home if you'd like to read more about it here.
For this blog though, I wanted to focus on one of my favourite wallpaper collections from Farrow & Ball and, more importantly, the Farrow and Ball paint colours I'd pair with each design.
Of course, there isn't a right or wrong answer when it comes to decorating. These are simply the combinations I'd choose, but that's the beauty of the Farrow & Ball wallpaper collection. With so many beautiful colourways and paint combinations to choose from, it's easy to create a look that's completely your own.
Farrow and Ball Jasmine
If you're looking for a wallpaper that instantly makes a room feel calmer, Farrow and Ball Jasmine is one I'd always recommend.
Its delicate flowers and trailing foliage bring a soft botanical feel to bedrooms, living rooms and hallways without overwhelming the space. It's elegant, timeless and works just as well on a feature wall as it does throughout the whole room.
Jasmine comes in a range of beautiful colourways, but my personal favourite has to be 3902. I'd pair it with Green Smoke and James White. Together, they create a beautifully fresh scheme that feels like you've brought a little bit of the outdoors inside.
Farrow and Ball Peony
If you love classic floral interiors, Farrow and Ball Peony is hard not to fall in love with.
Inspired by the beauty of an English garden, it adds warmth, softness and character while still feeling wonderfully elegant. It's a lovely choice for bedrooms, dressing rooms or anywhere you want to create a cosy, welcoming space.
My favourite colourway is 2302. There's something so timeless about pairing it with Pelt and Skimming Stone. The combination feels soft, understated and effortlessly elegant, allowing the wallpaper to become the focal point of the room.
Farrow and Ball Gable
If country interiors are more your style, Farrow and Ball Gable is a fantastic choice.
Featuring rolling fields, picket fences and charming farmyard scenes, it brings a little piece of the countryside into your home and is full of character without feeling overpowering.
I'd choose colourway 5401 every time and pair it with Purbeck Stone and Strong White. It's a combination that feels warm, relaxed and beautifully balanced. I don't think you can go wrong with it.
Farrow and Ball Ringwold
Farrow and Ball Ringwold offers a slightly more subtle take on botanical wallpaper.
Its climbing floral design adds gentle movement and texture to your walls, while Farrow & Ball's unique paint-on-paper printing technique gives it a beautifully soft, almost fabric-like finish.
For me, colourway 1654 is the standout. I'd pair it with Green Smoke and White Tie to create a timeless, calming scheme that works beautifully in your home.
Farrow and Ball Bumble Bee
Nature-inspired decorating doesn't always have to be about flowers.
Farrow and Ball Bumble Bee celebrates one of our favourite garden visitors with charming bee motifs and delicate metallic details that catch the light beautifully. It's playful, full of personality and guaranteed to make people smile.
I think it would look wonderful in a child's bedroom, playroom or even a home office if you want to bring a little more joy into the space. My favourite is colourway 507, paired with India Yellow and White Tie. It's a cheerful combination that feels warm, uplifting and full of character.
Bringing the whole scheme together
One of the questions we're asked most is whether you should choose your wallpaper or your paint first.
Personally, I'd always start with whichever one you've completely fallen in love with.
If it's the wallpaper, use that as the inspiration for the rest of the room. Picking out colours from the design for your walls, ceiling or woodwork helps create a scheme that feels balanced, cohesive and thoughtfully put together.
If you're still deciding between a couple of designs, I'd always recommend ordering wallpaper samples first. Seeing them in your own home, alongside your chosen paint colours and in different lighting throughout the day, is the best way to find the combination that's right for your space.
