Fiddes Clear Glaze
A durable high build interior wood varnish, Fiddes Clear Glaze has been designed to provide a high level of protection against everyday wear and tear.
Fiddes clear glaze is a solvent based polyurethane varnish that has been purposely developed to deliver high quality resistance to stratches, scuffs and liquid spills.
Suitable for using on a wide range of wooden surfaces including, fine furniture, doors, floors and panelling, this Fiddes glaze dries to a clear varnish and is available is both a matt and satin finish. Easy to apply by brush or pad, this highly durable varnish provides coverage of up to 14m² per litre and requires 2-3 coats for optimum results. Available in both 1L & 2.5L size tins, simply choose your selection by using the dropdown menu above.
Is it ok to use a steam cleaner or steam mop to clean my varnished floor?
No, cleaning oiled or varnished floors with a steam cleaner or steam mop introduces high temperatures and pressure water which can strip and potentially ruin the finish.

Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from any previous finish. Fill any cracks/knots with Fiddes Floor Filler Gel where required. Sand the substrate with a fine 120/150 grade sanding paper or 120/150 grit sanding disk, removing all traces of dust.
Ensure all areas to be coated are extremely well ventilated during and after application. Always test on a small area prior to initial application. Maximum 2 coats recommended, 3 on softwood. Apply at room temperature. Fiddes Clear Glaze is formulated for application directly, thin 10% with White Spirit if required.
First Coat
Stir contents thoroughly before and during use, and apply in a warm, well ventilated room. Apply THINLY using Fiddes Floor Oil Brush or a good quality bristle or synthetic brush, and lay EVENLY, following the direction of the grain. Leave to dry 4-6 hours in warm, dry well ventilated conditions.
Second Coat
Stir contents thoroughly before and during use, and apply in a warm, well ventilated room. Apply THINLY using Fiddes Floor Oil Brush or a good quality bristle or synthetic brush, and lay EVENLY, following the direction of the grain. Leave to dry 4-6 hours in warm, dry well ventilated conditions.
For regular light cleaning, a damp cloth should be applied and resulting clean area left to dry. Periodically, an application of Fiddes Floor Surface Cleaner is recommended, followed by Fiddes Liquid Floor Wax or Mellow Wax.
