Sikkens Cetol Filter 7 Plus
Maximum durability satin finish wood stain that gives excellent resistance to UV radiation, this high quality wood stain is solvent based and gives a highly translucent, satin finish to bring out the beauty of the wood your painting.
The Sikkens Cetol Filter 7 Plus is extremely easy to apply and maintain and has a 5 year maintenance cycle. The stain is highly durable and offers unrivalled protection from the damaging effects sunlight can have on wood finishes.
The Filter 7 Plus usually requires 2 coats for a perfect finish. It can applied to exterior doors, windows and other exterior joinery and is ideally used after the application of Sikkens Cetol HLS Plus providing 5 years of protection from weathering.

Sikkens Cetol Filter 7 features a touch dry time of 3 hours and a total recoat time of 18 hours.

Ensure product is thoroughly stirred before and during application, otherwise sheen and colour variations may be experienced.
Cetol Filter 7 plus is supplied ready for use. Do NOT thin. Cetol HLS plus should be used as a base stain for joinery items prior to coating with Cetol Filter 7 plus. For best results use a good quality, long-haired soft bristle brush. The product should be applied in a full flowing coat, laying off in the direction of the grain, using the minimum number of brushstrokes necessary to produce an acceptable finish. Avoid overbrushing, as this will reduce the protection afforded.
Do NOT apply if there is any risk of rain as this will affect quality of the finish. Protect from frost and rain until dry. During application make sure temperature is above 5°C and below 30°C. Allow a minimum of 16 hours drying time between coats.
The finish should be inspected yearly to check for any surface defects or damage as a result of weathering. If required, areas of wear or damage can be rectified by carrying out the following.
- If required, fill any holes with a suitable wood filler
- Colour any defective areas after preparation with the matching colour of Sikkens Cetol HLS Plus
- Re-apply two coats of Sikkens Cetol Filter 7 Plus
