A highly protective exterior varnish, defending exterior timber from the effects of weathering and UV damage
Sadolin Extra Durable Clearcoat is a uniquely designed product that works through providing a protective barrier on your wooden surfaces.
A solvent based product, Sadolin Extra durable clearcoat not only protects your wood, but also protect its from the damaging effect of UV light, rain, sun and moisture. Easily applied with a brush and providing up to 15m² of coverage per litre, this durable clearcoat is suitable to be used by itself, or can also be used as an overcoat for other Sadolin products including Sadolin Classic Wood Protection and Sadolin extra durable woodstain. Providing both a clear gloss and satin finish, it's also is extremely durable and flexible, resisting cracking, splitting, blistering and flaking.
With a drying time of 4-6 hours and a recoatable time of 16-24 hours, Sadolin extra durable clearcoat is suitable for any wooden surface except decking but works at it best for maintenance or as a top coat for exterior wood.

Ensure all timber surfaces to be treated are fully clean, sound and dry, whilst any traces of mould, algae and fungi must be removed with a scraper, stiff brush or broom. Areas affected by biological growth should be treated with a suitable mould and mildew cleaner. Always degrease any exposed bare timber surface by wiping with a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with methylated spirits and ensure that any holes, cracks or defects in the wood are filled with a suitable timber wood filler.
If treating new timber surface, pre treat wood with a suitable preservative for best levels of protection.
If treating previously coated wood, affected areas should be thoroughly sanded back to a sound substrate and re-coated, wooden surfaces that have been previously coated should only require a light sanding to aid with overall adhesion. Wash down with warm water and detergent, allowing to dry before application of Sadolin Clearcoat, it is also important to ensure that all surface dust and debris from sanding is removed before coating.
For optimum results, always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Do not apply Sadolin Extra if there is a chance of rain, or if temperatures are below 8°.
To begin, ensue that tin of Sadolin Extra has been thoroughly stirred before and during application and is applied with a good quality paintbrush. Apply in a full flowing coat, ensuring all surfaces and end grains are fully coated, once applied leave surface to dry for a minimum of 16-24 hours between coats.
For regular cleaning, wooden surfaces can be wiped down with a dampened, lint-free cloth and warm, soapy water.
The need for maintenance is indicated by a lightening in colour, reduction in sheen as the coating erodes, and a loss of water repellent qualities. When the layer of finish is getting thin, simply wash down with warm, soapy water (mild detergent) and re-coat with 1 or 2 coats of Sadolin Extra Durable Clearcoat.
