Why Use A Paint Primer?

Using a paint primer is an important step during painting and helps your surfaces to achieve a high level of adhesion, improve sheen and help cover any stubborn stains. Using a paint primer also helps to provide a brilliant colour and a smooth seamless paint application.

How Many Coats of Paint Primers Should I Apply?

How much primer you need will depend on the material and condition of your walls. For the best results, we recommend using one coat of primer before applying two coats of your chosen paint.

Priming Wooden Surfaces

Wooden surfaces are known for naturally being a porous surface and are susceptible to temperature, moisture and damage. so priming your wooden surface is something that we would always recommend.

If you're painting over a previously painted wooden surface, then we recommend giving your surfaces a light sand down to provide a high level of adhesion and a flawless, even finish.

Priming Metal Surfaces

Similar to wooden surfaces, priming metal prior to applying paint is a super important step. Using an appropriate sandpaper or scraping tool, remove as much dirt and grease as possible and eliminate any rust, loose or flaking paint. Finally apply a new fresh coat of primer, after which the metal paint can be applied.
