We’ve been longtime supporters (and stockists) of Eco Union. Like us, Eco Union is a family run business based in the UK. We love what they’re about - you’ve probably seen us using their brushes in our reels, Tik Toks and Youtube videos!

 

Decorating that doesn’t cost the earth

The planet is our first home, so it’s only natural that when decorating our own homes we are conscious of our environmental impact. The good news is that the industry has come on leaps and bounds over the past few years. Now there are some amazing companies offering biodegradable, compostable and green decorating products.

Trade quality, environmentally friendly.

One thing you might be wondering, (and it’s a fair question) is if the eco version does as good a job? We’re always on the lookout for eco products that we can test for you. When it comes to Eco Union, we’re really happy to say their painting tools are up to the mark! Here are some of our favourite Eco Union products:

Biodegradable dust sheet

Keeping the planet, and your DIY projects tidy. If like us you’re trying to cut down on single use plastics, these dust sheets are great! Unlike regular plastic sheets that never break down, these will break down so you can throw them into your general waste or recycling. They do a great job at protecting your carpets etc - they’re always in our toolkit! 

 

 

Eco trays

Again, these are a great product if you’re looking to cut down on plastic waste. They’re plant based - but incredibly strong. Like, can hold up a set of beer bottles strong. We find them sturdy and durable. The best part? You can use them again and again. There’s no need to wash them out. All you have to do is wipe out the leftover paint, leave to dry - and you’re good to go again!

 

 

 

Paint Brushes

It’s hard to do a good job of any paint job without a decent brush. If there’s one piece of kit to invest in, this is it. Eco Union do a range of paint brushes, that can be used on any paint type. They hold a good amount of paint and they’re super easy to control. They’re also made with recycled metal ferrule, a natural bristle blend and bamboo handle - so alongside being just a really good brush, they tick those green credentials too.

 

 

At DCO we’re always looking to improve the impact of what we do. We’ve always offered environmentally friendly products, from brushes and trays to low and no VOC paints. Even our robust packaging is sourced from the UK, largely made from waste and almost 100% recyclable. For us, it’s a really exciting area of decorating and we can’t wait to see what improvements are ahead!
