#MakeItMonday Decoupage Photo Frame
You may have seen a couple of pictures over on our Facebook page from our recent travels...
We really wanted to find a way to show off our favourite snaps from the trip but struggled to find a photo frame we love at a reasonable price so here is our #MakeItMonday inspired by our travels!
I found this old frame at the store which we re-colour each time we do a window display, I believe it was around £2.99 from The Range so an absolute bargain! A quick google returned some world map napkins on Amazon giving me the perfect materials for my latest upcycling project.
What you will need:
Chalk Paint - the napkins are pretty see-through so it needs to be a colour you are happy to be showing through.
Paint Brush - due to the intricacies of the frame we were using we opted for a round head
Sealer or lacquer (PVA would work too!)
Napkins of your choice.
What you will need
Step 1 - paint your photo frame in your Rust-Oleum chalk paint. We opted for Mocha in the satin finish because we wanted an off-white finish to match our photo. 1 coat should do the trick!

Step 2 - once dry peel back the layers of your napkin to leave only the very top printed layer.
Peel back the layers
Step 3 - Lay the napkins over the frame. Using the Rust-Oleum Sealer or Lacquer and your brush to coat the napkin to adhere to the frame. You should be able to tear away the excess from the edges or a knife to cut it away.
Lay the napkins in place
Apply the lacquer/sealer
The napkin is easy to tear but don't panic. As the pattern of the design is so random its really easy to patch in small pieces!
AND THATS IT! It really is that simple and takes no time at all! I think in total its cost about £1.50 based on the tiny amount of paint/lacquer used and the packet of napkins costing £1.20!
Finito! The finished product!
We're so pleased with the finished result and really does beat anything we could have bought! Now lets find some more frames to add to the collection!
